I was picking some flowers by my house and I noticed this really cool artwork.
I like it! The people of Mulligan’s.
March 30th 2011, I was at Mulligan’s Open Mic in Eugene Oregon. Amblin is the host:
He does a great job! He is a musician him self and really knows how to make everyone feel at home. He gives everyone the same amount of time and even records everyone. For a few dollars he’ll even make you a CD of your set. I always really enjoy playing Mulligan’s Open Mic, so much so that I took the CD he made me last year and picked some of the best songs and put them on a CD to sell to you. It’s called Live At Mulligan’s Open Mic and listening back to it now I realize how far I’ve come as a musician since then. It’s actually a little bit embarrassing that I thought at the time that this was good enough to share with the world. Live and let learn. Michael Conley was there tonight: Micheal is an amazing musician and I would highly recommended that you go check him out as soon as you are done reading this. Jamie Sterling was also there tonight:
I always really enjoy hearing Jamie play. We share a love for the song “One More Cup Of Coffee” by Bob Dylan and I had the pleasure of hearing her play it tonight. I highly recommend her as well.
For my set I played: “Stand Alone” by Bunny Wailer, “Woman In Paisley” by me, “Paparazzi” by Lady Gaga and “Lost Words” by me. It was a lot of fun and I will definitely be back to Mulligan’s Open Mic in the future. Thanks for listening. Me quitting my Open Mic Blog was an early April Fool’s Joke. I’m sorry if this offended anyone.
Tonight I played at Diablo’s Downtown Lounge in Eugene Oregon. They have an open mic every Tuesday from 7 to 9pm. Right before the Karaoke. All open mics are different and this one is no exception. It’s hosted by this guy:
He plays a mean blues and is a very competent musician him self. I don’t recall his name but he does a pretty good job with the open mic, all things considered… He allowed me three songs and I choose to play “Stand Alone” by Bunny Wailer, “Urge” by Daniel Johnston and “After All” by me. Seth Milstein a very funny comic went on after me. Seth is a really funny guy and I really enjoyed his set. He hosts comedy showcases around town and this is the second time I’ve shared a stage with him. The first time was at Cowfish Dance Club right after I had got done freaking out on my synthesizer and he made a funny joke about how he didn’t mean to cut me off as it sounded like I was just getting warmed up. It was funny because my whole set was improvisational. I would highly recommended checking him out if you like to laugh. Diablo’s is kind of a strange place, as you might imagine a place named after the devil might be. I’m not sure if I’ll be returning to this open mic but that doesn’t mean that I would not recommend it to others. Thanks for listening.
On Thursday Night I played Luckey’s Club Cigar Store in Eugene Oregon. Steve Ibach played a set.
He played some really great covers of some Tom Waits songs. Jamie Sterling played a set.
Jamie has an amazing voice and I really enjoyed her set. Not Counting The Mezzanine played a set.
Not Counting The Mezzanine is made up of my good friends Joshua Finch and Brett Estep. Hansa El Din joined me for my set and we made the set list together.
We had a lot of fun with our set.
I really like playing Luckey’s. The people there are all really nice and it’s a really fun place to play music. Here is another video of me saying um over and over again for you to enjoy: Thanks for listening.
On, Thursday, March 24th, Samuel Ferris Harmon & Hansa El Din will be at Luckey’s Cigar Store Club in Eugene Oregon along with: Not Counting The Mezzanine, Jamie Sterling, Plus a rare solo performance by the great Steve Ibach! This is going to be a great show! $2 Microbrews until midnight means that you’ll enjoy your self even after the modest cost of $3 at the door. If none of this convinces you that this is the best way to spend your Thursday night just watch this video of me saying um over and over again. See? Didn’t that convince you that it’s going to be cool? Blazer Smith is just here to confound you. Thanks for listening/watching.
It’s been one full year since this website has been live! Since that time I have accomplished so many goals in my life that I never thought were even possible. I’ve moved through my fears and continued to do what I love doing. Thanks for supporting me! It means so much to me that people keep giving me positive feedback about the things that I’m doing. Somebody needs to pinch me because I think I must be dreaming. Over the next year I hope to get some recordings together that I can be proud of. Up until now I have not been very happy with most of the recordings of my music. They never seem to sound the way I want them to. Right now I need to go focus some more on my day jobs though because the harsh reality is that none of this stuff is helping me to pay my bills. Thank you for your support! http://music.samuelferrisharmon.com/track/its-not-working-ode-to-captain-beefheart Thanks for listening/watching |
If this is your first time here you might want to start with the bio.
