5 Gigs in One Weekend

This is the most that I’ve ever played live ever in my life.

This weekend was the Eugene Celebration, this means that you have to pay $15 to go downtown and a bunch of bands that you probably don’t care about are all playing on stages set up in the street.

One of the events going on that you didn’t need $15 for was the WOW Hall Rummage Sale/Busker Fest!

I was lucky enough to play this event 4 times!

On Friday I played on the porch of the WOW Hall  and it seemed as though people were more interested in talking to me than they were in my music, it was kind of strange and I didn’t make any money.

I than moved inside to the stage where there was no amplification and started playing my classic guitar in open D tuning with my slide, I sometimes like to just play the blues with my slide.

A man gave me a dollar!

This is a picture I drew of me playing at the WOW Hall:

I than switched over to my steel string and started to play some songs, I played a cover of Paparazzi by Lady Gaga and a little girl started singing along, that was by far the highlight of my weekend! She also gave me a dollar!

Near the end of my set on Friday a girl traded me her “Zine” for a copy of my CD Putting Off Procrastination.

I think that she may have gotten the better deal out of that trade.

On Saturday I was the last one to play at the Busker Fest and I played for almost an hour and a half and didn’t even make one penny.

On Sunday I returned at 2 pm and played for about 40 min and I made fifty cents, I also got to listen to Eagle Park Slim who is a really exceptional local blues man.

After my set at WOW Hall I ran over to Cozmic Pizza where I played to a very nice audience of young and old, I also got some free food for playing!

Here is a picture I drew of me playing at Cozmic:

It was kind of strange playing at the WOW Hall when it was full of junk with people rummaging through stuff but it was really cool that I got to play for a bunch of people that I normally would not have the opportunity to play for otherwise.

Overall it was a pretty good weekend, I made $2.50 an Itchy Vagina and a bowl of soup.

Thanks for listening.

Open Mic #35

Tonight I played Mac’s at the Vet’s Club.

I played: “Your Warning”, “Heart & Soul”, “Paparazzi”, “One More Cup Of Coffee“,”Urge”, “After All” and “MJ“.

It’s a really mellow open mic most of the time and tonight was no different but there were a few people there that I haven’t heard before and it was pretty fun.

Thanks for Listening!

Lady Gaga Live In Concert!

Well, I can now say that I saw Lady Gaga in concert!

It was an experience but it made me miss Micheal Jackson.

Is that strange?

By the end of the show she had sparks flying out of her boobs and crotch area.

Here is a drawing I did to illustrate.

There was fire, giant puppets, Beyonce look a likes, fake blood, shitty opening band, all the things that you would expect to see at a pop show.

My favorite part was when she sat at the piano and there was a giant tornado of fire spraying out of the top.

Not only was the music much better when she was playing by her self but the tornado of fire was really something to see.

The merch table was a joke unless you like paying $40 for a t-shirt or $30 for a thin little program.

It was an amazing costume show though! There were ducktape dresses, fishnet stockings and funny little hats everywhere.

Not to mention Lady Gaga’s costumes, she has a dress that is made out of feathers that has robot pieces in it so that the wings moved around while she was singing.

I think that Lady Gaga has a pretty nice voice and I really like the fact that she is always encouraging people to be them selves.

Before the concert, my friend and I went for a walk in Portland where the concert was held.

This is a picture of me on that walk.

We walked around and checked out a few record stores

I would say it was a pretty good Thursday.

Thanks for listening.

Open Mic #34

So tonight I had the pleasure of playing the very first Eugene’s Got Talent Open Mic at Holy Donuts!

It was really fun and it was cool to be one of the very first people to play a new open mic!

I played: “Dreamland”, “Home“, “Earth”, “Dying Song“, “After All“, “Urge” and “One More Cup Of Coffee“.

It was a really nice place to play and it was really cool too because a stand up comic who was also home schooled was on after me and he was pretty funny.

I will definitely be back!

Thanks for listening!

My Lady Gaga Calendar #4

Only 3 more days and I’ll be seeing Lady Gaga in the flesh!

I wasn’t so sure about Lady Gaga the first time I saw her, with her strange masks and such. It was on the Grammy’s and she just kept winning over and over again.

I downloaded her album and I really liked some of it, some of the songs I could have lived without but the first half of the album is really pretty good and that’s pretty good for a Pop Album.

When I saw that she was playing a concert in Portland, I got kind of excited, that is until I saw the ticket price…. :)

Luckily I have a very special friend who bought me tickets for my Birthday! My Birthday was in May, so I’ve been waiting a few months for this concert!

This will be one of the biggest concerts I’ve ever been to. I saw the Red Hot Chili Peppers on their first stop in the US after they released Stadium Arcadium and that was by far the biggest concert that I had been to up ’till that point and I’m curious to see how this concert will compare.

Anyways, I’m really excited to see her!

P.O.P. Goes Digital for 2010!

Putting Off Procrastination is back for 2010 with a fresh new cover and no cover songs. ;)
This is an album that I put together in 2007 but didn’t get around to putting out until 2008, I made about 65 CDs of it and sold them for $5 to a few friends.
This is the only album that I ever attempted to master my self. Most would probably say that it sounds better than my other recordings but it’s up for debate.
Since I made this I was made aware of the loudness war and since than have had a whole new perspective on what sounds good.

Anyways it is what it is….. Old recordings.

Putting Off Procrastination is now up on the Downloads page!

Open Mic #33

Tonight I was over at Mulligan’s Open Mic!

I decided tonight to just play John Frusciante songs.

John is best known for his guitar playing in Red Hot Chili Peppers but he is also a very active solo musician who has released many albums on his own and with friends.

John is at the top of my influences and I’m not sure that I would be doing what I’m doing now if were not for me being aware of him and his music.

I played: “As Can Be” (Without the intro), “Your Warning”, “Invisible Movement” and “Sold a Hole to A Disaster“.

It was really fun to just play his songs and the response was really positive!

I also just got one of John’s records in the mail today! It’s a collaboration with Omar Rodriguez Lopez and it’s really good!

Also don’t forget to vote five stars for Heart & Soul Eugene’s Next Big Thing!

Full Site makeover!

My entire weekend was consumed by this….

The site is better than it ever has been! I’m so excited not only about how nice it looks now but also how much I have learned about web development and animated gif files! ;)

The Sounds From Within section is back! And I’m planning on putting more music up on it soon!

The Buy My Junk section is also back! So go and buy something!

Or if you prefer free stuff there is the Mixed Tapes section where you can download mixes I make!

I took down the Video and Photo pages but I added a new menu at the top of the home page that makes it easier to navigate through the posts and that’s where most of the videos and photos are anyways so I really didn’t feel like there needed to be two sections.

And finally I added a donate button to the footer! Please consider making a small donation even a $1 or $2 really goes a long way for server costs.

Thanks for listening and enjoy your time here on my site!

Now please enjoy a game of  Pacman!
